LST-02: The Fleet Mechanic

The mastermind responsible for maintaining the entire LaStill fleet, powered by Hydraulically Compressed Anticipation™, in a state of perpetual operational perfection.

The Fleet Mechanic (designation: LST-02.1.FM) is the senior technical custodian of LaStill’s vehicular assets—both terrestrial and non-terrestrial. Appointed through direct selection by The Prime Architect (LST.01) and tacit approval from The Silent One (LST.01.TSO), the Fleet Mechanic ensures all company transport operates flawlessly, silently, and in perfect alignment with Standard 2046.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Maintenance, repair, and metaphysical calibration of LaStill’s fleet, including prototype ground vehicles, aerial units, and specialized non-terrestrial transports.
  • Management of Fleet Mechanic Helpers (LST-02.1.FM-XX), who are personally selected and supervised by the Fleet Mechanic.
  • Implementation of Protocol 9: Vehicular Discretion across all company conveyances.
  • Testing of experimental propulsion and concealment systems—including drives operating on principles of hydraulically compressed anticipation.

Appointment & Autonomy

  • The Fleet Mechanic is chosen after a prolonged, unobserved period of evaluation by upper leadership.
  • Once appointed, the Mechanic operates with significant autonomy, particularly in personnel decisions for their division.
  • The Fleet Mechanic may recruit an unlimited number of helpers—though they are not aware this privilege is unrestricted.

Public Recognition

While most LaStill roles remain deliberately obscured, the Fleet Mechanic is one of the few positions acknowledged in external-facing communications. This is due to the highly visible (though thoroughly explained-away) nature of the vehicles they maintain.

It is widely accepted within the company that the fleet would simply… cease to function… without the Mechanic’s meticulous, almost intuitive care.

Disclaimer:
The Fleet Mechanic does not conduct interviews, pose for photos, or acknowledge public recognition. All fleet-related inquiries will be redirected to a prepared statement about “logistical efficiency” and “perceptual neutrality.” Unauthorized attempts to approach the maintenance bay will be met with procedural discouragement by avian security personnel.
